The Blue Lake is one of the crater lakes on Mount Gambier and is known around the world for its unique change of colour each year. In November or December the lake becomes a brilliant blue, then in April it returns to darker shades for the winter months. There are various hypotheses as to why this happens but as yet there is no definitive known cause.

The Blue Lake Golf Links, on the southern slopes of Mount Gambier, offers wonderfully scenic views of the surrounding countryside and across to Mt Schank. This 18 hole par 70 public golf course has hosted the SA PGA Championships, SA's largest golf tournament, twice in recent years. The new clubhouse features a fully licensed restaurant, the Fairways on the Green, which overlooks the golf course. Group bookings are catered for, club hire is available, and there are motorised carts for hire. Greens and fairways are kept in very good condition all year.
